Upcoming Events

The Friends of Monomoy partner with the Chatham Conservation Foundation (CCF) sponsoring bird walks on Morris Island and other conservation and nature related programs. The Guided Bird Walks are $10 for members of the Friends of Monomoy, $15 for non-members. Proceeds go to supporting the Monomoy Refuge. All other events are free. The trail system for the Bird Walks is flat and sandy however there is steep hill at the beginning of the trailhead. 

What was seen on the Winter Solstice Walk

406 birds of 26 different species

  • Small flocks of yellow-rumped warblers

  • Huge swirling flocks of American robins and European starlings

  • Wintering ducks including:

    • Long-tailed Duck

    • Buffleheads

    • White-winged Scoter

    • Common Loon in Stage Harbor

    • Cooper’s Hawk

    • Red-tailed Hawk
