James Junda & Valerie Bourdeau have been studying songbird populations on Monomoy for since 2011 banding, evaluating the health and population size of the over 80 songbird species that depend on Monomoy. Come hear what they have observed and learned over the past 15 years. This is a free event.

About the event
The Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge is an important stopover for migrating birds. Since 2011 James Junda and Val Bourdeau have been studying the migrating population on South Monomoy Island. Their goal is to better understand and protect the birds living on and passing through Cape Cod and share their stories with the public.
Each August they set up mist nets in the dunes near the South Monomoy Lighthouse to evaluate the health and population size of the over 80 songbird species that depend on Monomoy. The birds are banded then sent on their way. James and Val will be talking about what they have observed and learned over the past 15 years.
